I just have my M9 for about 6 week and its a hell of a lot lighter then my Nikon D3. The image of the pretty woman is she related? Please don't take this as a criticism but, being 79 years old tomorrow and having grown up as a youth and teen we just had B & W in those days so I'm predisposed to only color. I have been to your country several times courtesy of Uncle Sam whilst I was in the US Navy during the Korean War it was a safer place to be believe me. Stan

Always interesting to see how my local town ,Blackpool, is viewed although I`m originally from Didsbury.
Came here via LUF but also am a member of RFF and Purelight.

They are some great images. The quick sand on the beach is only temporary. That may sound strange but its due to the changes to the promenade and sea wall. They are building new 'headlands' and spanish style steps down to the beach. While this work is carried out between tides they have diggers coming in and digging huge holes for the concrete foundations to the steps. These foundations go down about 30 feet and then when the tide comes back in it fills the sand back in. Due to this the sand infill is very soft and labelled as quick sand.
So it is only temporary. The whole prom and spanish steps is due for completion by the end of 2010. Then they will start construction of new attractions on the 6 headlands. There will be a 20,000 seater outdoor stadium, a skate/bmx park and much more.

Hi Steve

Just came across your site while researching the M8.

Had to tell you how super I thought the shot at the station of the couple saying, "Goodbye," - or maybe "Hello." In the midst of so much motion, this moment of private stillness, shared with the world. Fabulous.

WELL THAT'S HOW YOU FIND THINGS OUT. I WAS LOOKING FOR ANY RECORDS BY THE PIANIST BILLY MAYERL AND I REMEMBERED GIBBS BOOK SHOP WHICH I FREQENTED REGULARLY IN THE 1980-1990 PERIOD, I BOUGHT BOOKS AND CD'S, AND NOW THEY ARE NO LONGER THERE. I FOUND THIS SITE BY MERELY GOOGLING GIBBS RECORDS OF MANCHESTER. THEY WERE IN QUEEN CHARLOTTE STREET AND THEIR PROBLEM WAS PARKING.
I USED TO ORDER ITEMS BY PHONE THEY WERE VERY EFFICIENT ESPECIALLY THE LADY MEMBER OF THEIR STAFF.I TAKE IT THE BUSINESS DID NOT TRANSFER.

Hi Steve

Just wanted to say how impressed I was with your photographs, particularly the Paris ones.
I was recently in Paris on business ( Paris Air Show ) but managed to find some time to wonder around with my M6 + 35 mm, trying to emulate Dosineau, and Cartier Bresson ! Like you I find the Leica to be the best camera I have ever owned, and the lens are to die for.
Your Paris photo`s of the demonstrations really capture the atmosphere, well done !
Kind regards
Phil
