As you may have realised if you’ve looked at any of the other weeks’ photographs I have a fascination with the seaside, and the English seaside in particular. The run down nature of so much of it intrigues me, and I want to try and photograph as much of it as I can before it’s redeveloped and all these slightly tatty towns become just like everywhere else. There is still a magic about them, even if it is the magic of decay.
Main
This was taken on the central pier at Blackpool. The look of the stall holder makes it look as if he wasn’t too happy about the couple wining the soft toy, but in fact this is just the camera lying. I don’t think they had won the toy on his stall. Certainly there weren’t too many customers about. Perhaps that was his problem.

Alternatives
The next two are both again on the central pier at Blackpool.
Just as the stall holder in the main photograph wasn’t having a quiet day, the same was true on the dodgem ride where customers were few and far between.

Cafes too were quiet, but at least they had some customers. Glad to get out of the cold November wind perhaps.

And finally we move away from the seaside to central Manchester where a fiend of mine had an exhibition open at the Urbis centre. This can probably be best described as a museum of urban life and is housed in a striking new building in the centre of the city. This was taken at the opening and shows what I assume to be a mother and son tucking into some of the excellent food that was on offer.

I just have my M9 for about 6 week and its a hell of a lot lighter then my Nikon D3. The image of the pretty woman is she related? Please don’t take this as a criticism but, being 79 years old tomorrow and having grown up as a youth and teen we just had B & W in those days so I’m predisposed to only color. I have been to your country several times courtesy of Uncle Sam whilst I was in the US Navy during the Korean War it was a safer place to be believe me. Stan
